My first gun.
A serious face while sporting my outfit from the poor box
On my way to school with a lunch bag.
An old photo of me with Ronnie Giallanzo (far left), who is the nephew of Bonanno capo Vincent Asaro (the last man to be tried--and acquitted--for the infamous Lufthansa heist), and Peter Gotti (far right), who is the son of Gambino capo and acting boss Pete Gotti and nephew of Gambino don John Gotti. As kids, Ronnie and I hijacked trucks together and he was always there for me when I went away. If there is still such a thing as "men of honor" then Ronnie is certainly one of the very few men who meets the definition. Unfortunately, he is now in prison after being sentenced to much more time than he deserved.
FBI surveillance photos of me on my way to a meeting in California to discuss an armored truck heist with my crew.
Surveillance photos of a building in Maspeth, Queens, where the FBI said we had unloaded many of our hijacked trucks.
One of my several arrests that the press showed up for.
Prison photo. I did lots of push ups between reading books all day.
With Olympia Gigante, wife of Genovese boss, Vincent "Chin" Gigante, who strolled the streets of Greenwich Village in a bathrobe while feigning lunacy in order to avoid prison. Olympia wanted to see me when I got home from prison. She was old school and repeatedly went to bat for her husband throughout her life, even getting arrested once. She and her daughter, Rita, stuck by me while I was away. Sadly, she has since passed on.
With Little Vic Orena Jr., enjoying our retirement from The Life. Vic's dad, Little Vic Orena Sr., was the boss of the Colombo family and is serving life in prison, and Vic Jr faced life in prison. After being acquitted on a major racketeering indictment in which he brilliantly masterminded the defense of him and his codefendants, Junior decided to leave the life behind. But unlike the many cowardly snitches who testified against him, Vic served ten years on other charges and departed with honor.
A little aggravated during a BBC HardTalk interview after being asked if I had ever shot anybody.
A promotional event for my Discovery Channel series, Inside the Gangsters Code, in which I traveled to maximum security prisons around the world and locked in with the inmates to give viewers a look inside various subcultures.
